We had Paul at Green Country Building Materials build us an insulated 20x30 pole barn with 4" slab. Paul and his crew of 2, Todd and his son Gregory built it in 2.5 weeks or so. Had to pause for weather a few times, had to build a road also. We are happy with build and looking to build another one soon. Paul answered all our questions and walked us through the process.

Why Us

Post Frame Packages In Stock

Post frame gets a wide clear span up cheaply because the posts do the work. Getting the posts right is most of the job.

  • Ground Contact Rated Posts
  • Clear Spans Without Poles

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Posts carry the building instead of a continuous foundation and stud walls. They sit in the ground or on brackets, spaced several feet apart, with girts and purlins spanning between them. That spacing is why a post frame barn gets a wide clear span up quickly and for less money than steel or stick framing.

Either embedded in the ground with concrete, or bracket mounted on piers so the wood never touches soil. Embedded is the traditional and cheaper route and needs posts rated for structural ground contact. Brackets cost more up front and take the rot question off the table. We stock the treated posts for both and will talk through which suits your site.

Start with what goes inside and how it moves. Hay wants clear span and airflow, machinery wants door height and bay width, horses want stall size and aisle room. Sketch the layout before you price it, because widening a barn on paper costs nothing and widening one on site costs a rebuild.

Oklahoma law does exempt usual farm buildings from county permit fees in unincorporated areas, and Creek County currently issues no building permits there at all. Inside city limits that exemption does not apply, and Sand Springs requires a permit. Floodplain rules can still apply anywhere. Ask your own county or city before you order.

Three things, over and over. Posts with the wrong treatment rating going into the dirt. A building sized to today rather than to the equipment you will own in five years. And no thought given to drainage or which way the open side faces, which matters more here than people expect. Get a free quote.
